Infamous 2: Platinum RFI Charging

Trophy 36: Closed Casket Affair

Official Description: Give Bertrand what he wants.
Type: Bronze
Earned on: May 15th, 2022
Overall Earned: #1900

Bertrand has been selling Conduit minions to bad people and Cole finally learns why.

Bertrand’s grand plan is to show humanity how dangerous Conduits are so they will be cleansed from the Earth (himself included). Cole fights Bertrand’s 50 ft swamp monster form through the Gas Works with the help of the Rebels to finally end the jerk. Before the mission is officially over, LaRoche says “it took 30 men, 7 chainsaws and 12 pickups” to clear the corpse off the streets. Ew!

Oh and before this mission Cole finds out his friend John from the last game is still alive and he is the Beast with a not-so-evil mission. John is explosively awakening the Conduit gene in people who have it to cure them of the plague. Unfortunately, all the normal humans can’t be saved this way and they get blown apart from the blasts John uses.

Trophy 37: With Great Power Comes Greater Power

The last power I unlocked was Blast Shard Sense, which was completely useless since I had already acquired all the blast shards by this point. Oops!

Trophy 38: It’s My Town, Now

Official Description: Take over the second island in New Marais.
Type: Silver
Earned on: May 15th, 2022
Overall Earned: #1902

Some of the side missions are hidden on random bad guys so it took a while for me to track down the second island’s last one.

Trophy 39: Extreme Makeover

Official Description: Destroy 30 verandas or other large objects.
Type: Bronze
Earned on: May 15th, 2022

It was pretty clear the last mission was coming up so I decided to farm the rest of this trophy by blowing up tankers in the train yard.

Trophy 40: Fight the Good Fight

Official Description: Unlock the good ending.
Type: Silver

Cole gets the last blast core from a ice jerk who placed it at the top of his tower in the Gas Works. He also learns Zeke has the plague (it was pretty obvious with all the progressively worse coughing Zeke had during the game). The RFI can be used know, but it comes at a huge cost with the final choice to be made.

Using the RFI will kill the Beast and all Conduits on Earth (including Cole, Kuo and Nix). The Beast wants to activate all Conduits on Earth to save them, but all the regular humans will die of the plague (including Zeke). The usual girlfriend karma roles are reversed too. Kuo goes full selfish refusing to die and sides with the Beast option. Nix is pissed the Beast murdered her swamp monster family and wants the Beast dead not matter the cost.

Good playthrough means selfless self-sacrifice choice! Cole, Nix (who gets killed dealing a blow to the Beast), Zeke and the Rebels work together to fend off Kuo and John. When the RFI is ready to pop, Cole knocks the Beast to his knees and a guilty Kuo apologizes saying Cole is making the right choice.

The blast from the RFI blows through the atmosphere and all Conduits on Earth are killed. The plague gripping humanity disappears and millions of lives are saved at the cost of thousands of Conduit lives. Cole is worshipped as a hero, and a mournful Zeke sails off with his buddy’s corpse to end the game. RIP Cole!
