Collecting PlayStation trophies is one of my favourite video game hobbies. I enjoy recording my trophy journeys in the form of scrapbook articles on Strength in Sarcasm because why not! Here’s the details on my Dragon Age II platinum trophy quest.
SPOILER WARNING in case I need to say it. I’ll be talking about all the game’s trophies, which includes plot ruining details if you haven’t played the game yet.
Trophy 1: A Tale Within a Tale
Official Description: Listened to Varric begin his tale of the Champion of Kirkwall.
Type: Bronze

It’s pretty cool how the whole story is told by Varric the sarcastic dwarf, who is being interrogated by Cassandra, the Seeker of the Chantry. Varric offers up some Grade A embellished BS as a tutorial for your Hawke. Cassandra is none too pleased.
Trophy 2: Nefarious
Official Description: Allied yourself with the smugglers upon arriving in Kirkwall.
Type: Bronze

After fleeing Ferelden with the help of Dragon Lady Flemeth (voiced by the cool Captain Janeway, I might add) Hawke and her crew ship off to Kirkwall. Hawke’s mom is originally from Kirkwall nobility so that seems like their best chance at a new life. Her only remaining relative, Uncle Gamlen, is a bit of a jerk and Hawke needs to work her way into the city of Kirkwall.
I chose the smuggler path since they seem to have have slightly less… uh, shadiness? Athenril (the smuggler boss lady) asked me to shake down a merchant for some coin he owed. I chose to unleash the power of Aveline on his ass. She really seemed to like that since it raised her approval by 10.
Trophy 3: Immigrant
Official Description: Became a resident of Kirkwall.
Type: Bronze

The intro ends with Hawke having to work for the smugglers for a year. Welcome to Kirkwall! I’m sure nothing at all crazy will happen frequently.
Trophy 4: Craftsman
Official Description: Acquired your first crafting recipe.
Type: Bronze

You have the ability to craft potions, poisons, and runes in this game. It’s not really crafting in my mind though. You basically exchange resources found in the world for these stuffs at the designated tables. The first recipe I got was for Rune of Protection from the dwarf dude at the very start of Act 1.
Trophy 5: A Friend in Need
Official Description: Upgraded the armor of one of your party members.
Type: Bronze
Earned on: September 17th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1637
Hawke is the only one who can equip the various types of gear you loot throughout the game. Her companions have their own armor style, but you can find up to 4 upgrades per companion to buff them up a bit.
The first upgrade I picked up was Inscribed Leather Harness for Varric. I bought it from a vendor in Lowtown. Doesn’t take long to earn money in this game if you’re addicted to side quests and looting things like I am!
