Collecting PlayStation trophies is one of my favourite video game hobbies. I enjoy recording my trophy journeys in the form of scrapbook articles on Strength in Sarcasm because why not! Here’s the details on my Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater platinum trophy quest.
SPOILER WARNING in case I need to say it. I’ll be talking about all the game’s trophies, which includes plot ruining details if you haven’t played the game yet.
Trophy 1: I Can Totally See You
Official Description: Achieve a camouflage index of +90%

I was just messing around with the camouflage system and happened to crouch in some grass wearing the Woodland/Leaf combo for 90% concealment. I’ll take the accidental accomplishment!
Trophy 2: Beekeeper
Official Description: Use bees to harass an enemy
Type: Bronze

Overall Earned: #1685
A cutscene implied dropping bees on an unsuspecting guard was a thing that should be done (Snake’s sly smile said so), so I did it! The buzzing and screaming guard sounds resulted in this shiny trophy.
Trophy 3: Young Gun
Official Description: Submit Ocelot

So I guess this young punk is the older and wiser Ocelot I know from Metal Gear Solid 2? The guy with an arm from another Snake that takes control of him sometimes, right?? Seems to be the case, eh.
In a fancy cutscene, Snake pwns Ocelot’s unit and knocks him out after offering some advice and taunting.
Trophy 4: Pain Relief
Official Description: Defeat The Pain

Over-the-top and incredibly weird bad guys are Kojima’s thing, right? This is only the 2nd game by him I’ve played so I have to say yes to that question.
Anyway, Snake fights Ocelot again in a duel that is rudely interrupted by The Pain’s man-eating wasp swarm. Snake escapes to a cave and eventually confronts The Pain in a boss fight. This disfigured weirdo has wasp armor, wasp grenades, and wasp swarms you need to avoid by diving underwater.

As the name of the game implies, eating snakes (and other creatures) is indeed a gross thing you do! I’m playing on Very Easy so the stamina meter wasn’t something I had to worry about.
I just ate some stuff to clear out inventory space and was ‘treated’ to a lovely little video of Snake actually eating a snake… ew.
