Barnabas/Odin blocks the way to the last Mothercrystal on Ash. Clive needs to climb a huge tower and have a massive boss battle with him to open the way forward. The defeated Barnabas forcefully gives Clive his Odin powers before finally kicking the bucket for good. It seems Barnabas was akashic (zombie-like beings who were living things corrupted by aetherfloods) and he disappears into dust.
Ultima is pleased his vessel is now complete, but Clive refuses to cooperate. Free will for the win!

Bye-bye final Mothercrystal! Clive has to fight his way through A LOT of stuff to finally make it into some weird dream realm with Ultima. I kinda still have no idea what Ultima was going on about, but from what I gather, Ultima created humanity and is pissed his creations have gained the free will to oppose him. It seems the blight that’s sapping up all the aether is what Ultima is trying to avoid as well.
