Collecting PlayStation trophies is one of my favourite video game hobbies. I enjoy recording my trophy journeys in the form of scrapbook articles on Strength in Sarcasm because why not! Here’s the details on my Dragon Age: Origins platinum quest.
SPOILER WARNING in case I need to say it. I’ll be talking about all the game’s trophies, which includes plot ruining details if you haven’t played the game yet.
Trophy Unlocks 1-10
Trophy 1: Last of Your Line
Official Description: “Completed the Human Noble origin story”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 15th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1435
All six of the Grey Warden intro stories are extremely depressing to say the least. The Human Noble one is no exception. My poor Grey Warden had to leave her parents to die after an unforgivable betrayal from their ‘family friend’ Arl Howe. Can’t wait to kill that guy later!
Trophy 2: Bloodied
Official Description: “Completed an origin story without the main character ever falling in battle”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 15th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1436
For this playthrough I was a warrior with heavy armor playing on casual difficulty. Yep. Wasn’t hard to not die during the intro story!
Trophy 3: Grey Warden
Official Description: “Killed 100 darkspawn”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 15th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1437
Killing darkspawn is what this game is all about! Unfortunately, there are glitches with the trophy counter I will complain about later.
Trophy 4: Last of the Wardens
Official Description: “Completed Ostagar”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 15th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1438
RIP Duncan and dude-bro-King Cailan. And shout-out to Flemeth for saving my Grey Warden’s ass!
Trophy 5: Persuasive
Official Description: “Succeeded at five difficult Persuasion attempts”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 15th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1439
Ha! I guess the early Persuade options aren’t all that hard. Tact and cunning are NOT at all strengths for my Grey Warden.
Trophy 6: Tinkerer
Official Description: “Crafted an item”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 15th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1440
It took far too long to figure out how the hell to make a potion. Shout-out to Morrigan for having the Herbalism skill!
Trophy 7: Pilgrim
Official Description: “Completed a Chanter’s Board quest”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 16th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1441
Complete one side quest related activity? Pfft! Easiest trophy ever for me – the easily sidetracked. Also found it hilarious how the little kid next to the Chanter’s Board Guy in Lothering tries to make him say words other than the Chant of Light.
Trophy 8: Bully
Official Description: “Succeeded at five difficult Intimidate attempts”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 23rd, 2021
Overall Earned: #1446
This Grey Warden only uses the Intimidate option on jerks who deserve it. So far that’s happened 5 times! I earned this trophy by forcing a selfish dwarf warrior to help defend Redcliffe Village from a zombie invasion.
Trophy 9: Educated
Official Description: “Used a tome to improve the main character’s attributes, talents, spells, or skills”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 23rd, 2021
Overall Earned: #1447
While clearing junk from my inventory at camp I noticed Bodahn had a Tome of Physical Technique for 22 gold. I’m extremely rich after selling a ton of DLC items so why not? Ultimate Edition for the win!
Trophy 10: Mage Sympathizer
Official Description: “Sided with the mages in “Broken Circle””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 23rd, 2021
Overall Earned: #1448
That’s right! My Grey Warden would rather risk letting a blood mage go free instead of murdering a bunch of innocent Circle mages. Uldred is an evil asshole but not all mages are. Letting the Templars invoke the Right of Annulment is wrong… and will totally happen later on my evil Grey Warden for another trophy. 😈
Trophy Unlocks 11-20
Trophy 11: Mercenary
Official Description: “Complete 15 job-board quests”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 30th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1449
Must do. All. Quests. My Grey Warden wasn’t too picky about who she did quests for, but she did tell the Antivan Crows to sod off.
Trophy 12: Dragonslayer
Official Description: “Defeated the dragon guarding the Urn of Sacred Ashes”
Type: Silver
Earned on: January 30th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1450
Flemeth is so much harder than the optional dragon boss in Urn of Sacred Ashes quest (bang the gong to summon it). I was able to kill her without issues before getting here so… Shout-out to Wynne for healing like a champion (and not running out of mana when I made one of her tactics ‘take a lyrium potion’).
Trophy 13: Ceremonialist
Official Description: “Defied the Cult of Andraste in “The Urn of Sacred Ashes””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 30th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1451
My Grey Warden decided not to side with the crazed local dragon cult this time around. She also told Chantry scholar Genitivi that the Urn should be shared with the world! My evil playthrough will counterbalance that cheese, don’t worry.
Trophy 14: Veteran
Official Description: “Main character learned a specialization”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 30th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1452
Of course my first spec would be Berserker. Grey Warden smash!!
Trophy 15: Hero of Redcliffe
Official Description: “Completed “The Arl of Redcliffe””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 30th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1453
Best possible resolution for this one! No one expect the evil demon had to die.
Trophy 16: Elite
Official Description: “Main character learned two specializations”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: January 30th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1454
I am the Champion because that’s the second spec I picked.
Trophy 17: Menacing
Official Description: “Succeeded at 10 difficult Intimidate attempts”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: February 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1455
The 10th jerk my Grey Warden threatened was a mage was working with a shady dwarven dealer to cash in on the Templar’s lyrium addiction.
Trophy 18: Sliver Tongued
Official Description: “Succeeded at 25 difficult Persuasion attempts”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: February 6th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1456
This one popped while I was convincing a dwarf to not be a coldblooded asshole and let his daughter keep her ‘lowborn’ baby. The dwarven caste system is beyond cruel sometimes.
Trophy 19: Liberator
Official Description: “Destroyed the Anvil of the Void”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: February 12th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1457
Let’s see. Side with the crazy Paragon lady who let her people be horribly violated by the darkspawn to get at a relic that enslaves dwarves by turning them into golems – takes a long breath – or side with the nice golem fella who wants to stop all of this insanity and destroy the anvil. My Grey Warden went with the destroy the bad thing option.
Trophy 20: Harrowmont’s Ally
Official Description: “Sided with Harrowmont in “A Paragon of Her Kind””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: February 12th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1458
After anvil went smashy, My Grey Warden had free choice on whom to crown the new dwarven king. I went with Harrowmont since I remember Bhelen being a total kin-killing jerk in the Dwarf Noble origin story.
Trophy Unlocks 21-30
Trophy 21: Poacher
Official Description: “Sided with the elves in “Nature of the Beast””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 2nd, 2021
Overall Earned: #1460
My goody-two-shoes Warden was happy to have settled the werewolf problem in the Brecilian Forest with minimal sacrifices. Zathrian should have never unleashed the curse in the first place, but I can definitely understand where he was coming from. At least he made things right (this playthrough).
Trophy 22: Standard-Bearer
Official Description: “Used the Grey Warden treaties to recruit all possible allies”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 2nd, 2021
Overall Earned: #1461
Trophy 23: Master of Arms
Official Description: “Main character achieved level 20 as a warrior”
Type: Silver
Earned on: March 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1462
Doing lots of side content gave my Grey Warden tons of XP.
Trophy 24: Rabble-Rouser
Official Description: “Completed “The Landsmeet””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1463
Alistair doesn’t want to be king and my Grey Warden won’t make him. After Loghain got what he deserved, I happily let Anora have her crown as per our deal beforehand. I’m sure she’ll totally have Ferelden’s best interests at heart.
Trophy 25: Heavy Hitter
Official Description: “Main character inflicted 250 damage with a single hit”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1464
Swing and a massive hit while fighting through Redcliffe near the end of the game.
Trophy 26: Defender
Official Description: “Preserved the lives of half the troops at Denerim’s Gates in “The Final Battle””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1465
Easy! I didn’t use any of the troops during the battles in Denerim so 100% of my army was still alive. I did have a few deaths in my party but Wynne patched everyone back up without issues.
Trophy 27: Traveler
Official Description: “Set foot in every area in the game”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1466
This one can be a bit of a pain since the game is not very clear on what areas are needed. I made sure I went everywhere during the quest and was grateful the trophy popped when I stepped into the final boss area.
Trophy 28: A Dark Promise
Official Description: “Defeated the Archdemon and, through a dark ritual with Morrigan, spared your own life”
Type: Gold
Earned on: March 5th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1467
Getting Morrigan and Alistair to do the uh… deed before the final produces a child that absorbs the archdemon’s soul so my Grey Warden didn’t have to die! I’ll never be able to unsee that cutscene with Morrigan and Alistair. *shudders*
Trophy 29: Casteless
Official Description: “Completed the Dwarf Commoner origin story”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 12th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1468
For story reasons, the Dwarf Commoner and City Elf origins seemed like the best fit for my evil Grey Warden. I decided to go Dwarf Commoner since dwarven society in general seems kinda cruel and cutthroat. My evil Grey Warden was born and quickly run outta Orzammar for defiling the scared Proving with his casteless prowess. Luckily, Duncan was nearby to recruit him!
Trophy 30: Witch Gone Wild
Official Description: “Experienced the thrill of romance with Morrigan”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 13th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1469
Morrigan will only sleep with a male Grey Warden and needs a fairly low approval bar to do so. My evil Grey Warden was a total jerk, which won over Morrigan effortlessly. Thank the Maker you can skip the sexy time cutscenes… blargh!
Trophy Unlocks 31-40
Trophy 31: Slayer
Official Description: “Sided with the werewolves in “Nature of the Beast””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 13th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1470
My evil Grey Warden had to betray the Dalish and help the werewolves and their Lady murder them all. Jeez. I felt kinda terrible for that one but I’m sure my Grey Warden enjoyed it.
Trophy 32: Easy Lover
Official Description: “Experienced the thrill of romance with Zevran”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 13th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1471
Zevran the failed assassin was super easy to seduce and hopped into bed with my Grey Warden after just a few chats. Again, Maker bless the designer who made the sex scenes skippable!
Trophy 33: Pragmatist
Official Description: “Preserved the Anvil of the Void”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 20th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1472
My Grey Warden is a crazy madman, so siding with the crazy madwoman Paragon was a good fit. A few dwarves may be sacrificed but a golem army to use against the archdemon isn’t terrible. Yep. I still feel awful.
Trophy 34: Bhelen’s Ally
Official Description: “Sided with Bhelen in “A Paragon of Her Kind””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 20th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1473
I’m usually on Team Harrowmont because I think Bhelen is a pompous little kin-killing asshole. I was surprised to find he takes dwarven society in a somewhat better direction!
Trophy 35: Annulment Invoker
Official Description: “Sided with the templars in “Broken Circle””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 20th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1474
This was the hardest evil choice since I had to kill Wynne to pull it off. I love her wisdom and healing spells. Sigh.
Trophy 36: Sacrilegious
Official Description: “Sided with the Cult of Andraste in “The Urn Of Sacred Ashes””
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 21st, 2021
Overall Earned: #1475
Why not side with a crazy cult who worships a dragon and poison a sacred urn that could’ve healed the world? I was surprised to find the guardian turns into a boss fight if you’re an evil asshole here.
Trophy 37: Recruiter
Official Description: “Across all playthroughs, recruited all party members”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 21st, 2021
Overall Earned: #1476
The fact you have to lose the lovable loser Alistair to recruit Loghain into your party meant he was an option I always skipped… until now.
Trophy 38: The Ultimate Sacrifice
Official Description: “The ultimate sacrifice was made in defense of Ferelden”
Type: Gold
Earned on: March 21st, 2021
Overall Earned: #1477
My Grey Warden was no doubt glad Loghain actually wanted to make the final sacrifice to save Ferelden.
Trophy 39: Perfectionist
Official Description: “Across all playthroughs, discovered all possible endings”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 25th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1478
After I made Loghain sacrifice himself I reloaded my save just before the archdemon fight. Then I chose to sacrifice my evil Grey Warden to save Ferelden (totally out of character for my heartless lil dwarf, I might add).
Then I reloaded the save file I made just before the Landsmeet and took Alistair to go sacrifice himself for Ferelden. My first Grey Warden already did the Dark Ritual ending so boom! The trophy for all 4 endings is mine thanks to the magic of save scumming.
Trophy 40: Wine, Woman, and Song
Official Description: “Experienced the thrill of romance with Leliana”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 25th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1479
Back to shameless save scumming, I decided it was faster to reload an old save and make my first Grey Warden bang the last two companions.
It was pretty freaking easy to bribe the bard to max approval with gifts from the Feastday DLC. I also like being nice to her normally since she is an awesome friend. It didn’t take long before my Grey Warden was invited into Leliana’s tent.
Trophy Unlocks 41-51
Trophy 41: First Knight
Official Description: “Experienced the thrill of romance with Alistair”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 25th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1480
Yes! I guess I will make my Grey Warden lick a lamppost in winter for a trophy.
Trophy 42: Hopelessly Romantic
Official Description: “Across all playthroughs, experienced all possible romances”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: March 25th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1481
And why not award one last trophy for being a huge player who banged all your companions!
Trophy 43: Master Warden
Official Description: “Killed 500 darkspawn”
Type: Silver
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1499
This trophy (and the next one) were infuriating until I read up on the hidden rules. The patch for this game sorta breaks the darkspawn death counter the game uses for these trophies. With a patched version of the game, you have to kill the specified number of darkspawn during a single playthrough and your Grey Warden needs to be the one who lands the killing blow for it to count.
A guide suggested the battle in Redcliffe near the end of the game is the perfect spot to farm for this trophy as a Warrior. Reloads don’t reset the counter so it was just a matter of making my party passive while my Grey Warden slaughtered the darkspawn menace over and over.
Trophy 44: Blight-Queller
Official Description: “Killed 1000 darkspawn”
Type: Gold
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1500
10 reloads later, the game finally acknowledged that I killed 1,000 of the damned darkspawn.
Trophy 45: Shadow
Official Description: “Main character achieved level 20 as a rogue”
Type: Silver
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1505
Let the cheesing begin! I could do this properly and complete a whole 30+ hour playthrough on a Rogue character, but nah. I’ll just create a new level 20 Rogue Warden at the start of the Witch Hunt DLC and instantly get it.
Trophy 46: Archmage
Official Description: “Main character achieved level 20 as a mage”
Type: Silver
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1506
And I did the same cheese with the mage trophy. This trick saved me 60 gameplay hours and makes up for that stupid darkspawn kill counter crap. I’d say the game and I are even now.
Trophy 47: Corrupted
Official Description: “Completed the Dalish Elf origin story”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1507
Time to wrap on the last 4 Grey Warden origin stories. Ha! I get the why they call it Dragon Age: Origins now.
First up: Dalish Warden. You and your friend Tamlen stumble into some ruins, find an ancient cursed mirror, Tamlen dies, you get corrupted, and then you need to leave your clan with Duncan to become a Grey Warden (the only cure for your taint).
Trophy 48: Conscripted
Official Description: “Completed the City Elf origin story”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1508
On your forced wedding day the Arl’s son struts in shouting racist slurs at the elves. After getting bonked on the head, he eventually crashes your wedding to drag all the women back to his place for reasons that are absolutely disgusting. It was nice to murder that son of a bitch, that’s for damn sure.
Murdering the Arl’s asshole son is sadly a crime, but Duncan recruits you into the Grey Wardens to prevent you from being executed by the guards. Phew!
Trophy 49: Harrowed
Official Description: “Completed the Magi origin story”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1509
The Magi origin puts you in the Circle Tower, makes you take a small trip through the fade, and eventually requires you to ‘help’ your friend Jowan (the future Arl of Redcliffe poisoner) destroy his blood sample so he can escape with his Chantry sister girlfriend.
Sadly, the Templars are alerted to the minor explosions you cause and Jowan uses Blood Magic to escape when he’s cornered. This horrifies everyone and Duncan welcomes you into the Grey Wardens to prevent the Templars from punishing you.
Trophy 50: Kinslayer
Official Description: “Completed the Dwarf Noble origin story”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1510
As one of the dwarven king’s children, you are leader of a Dark Roads battalion sent to pwn darkspawn for a reason I forget already. Unfortunately, one of your brothers (Bhelen) is a heartless asshole and frames you for the death of your other bro. This causes you to be banished and left to die in the Deep Roads. Alas! Cruel fate.
Thankfully, Mr. Duncan comes to the rescue again! He respects your nobility and invites you to become a Grey Warden.
Trophy 51: The Ultimate Reward
Official Description: “Completed all Bronze, Silver and Gold Trophies”
Type: Bronze
Earned on: April 10th, 2021
Overall Earned: #1511
A platinum in darkspawn pwning. Awesome.
