I love my Grass Crest Shield so much. The boost to stamina recovery is the best! I fully upgraded it through the fire line with Vamos the Blacksmith’s help. Giving it some fire defense can’t be a bad thing, eh?

After a quick side trip to Undead Asylum to trade a second ascended Pyromancy Flame for another Red Titanite Slab with Snuggly the Crow, I upgraded a random Halberd to max Chaos.

Trophy 33: To Link the Fire

Final boss time! Judge me all you want, pro Dark Souls players. I disconnected from the online servers (the final area is full of PVP invaders I bet), restored my humanity, and summoned my sun-loving friend Solaire to help me. Thanks to Solaire’s distractions, I was able to steamroll Gwyn in about 2 minutes on my first try. And the best part is I still don’t know how to parry! Yes, I’m playing it ‘wrong’, and I don’t care.

Also loved the sad music that played during the fight. Made it seem like such a special moment.

You have two choices once Gwyn is pwned, and of course each one is a trophy. Light the bonfire in the center of the area or walk away. My choice this time was to light dat fire and my undead burst into flames before the credits. I guess she sacrificed herself to keep the fires going, or something? I should probably read up on the story part of that.

After the credits I was thrown straight into New Game+ and I rolled with it! And was I ever able to zoom through the now tougher bosses again thanks to my prep. It wasn’t long before I took out Stray Demon in my undead underwear and got the Titanite Slab I needed to fully upgrade a Crystal Halberd.

Trophy 35: Covenant: Warrior of Sunlight

The last covenant I needed to join! It’s guarded by that stupid red dragon after the Taurus Demon, but I rolled my way in there without getting toasted. I had to offer 10 Sunlight Medallions and the soul of the final boss to get three Miracles I needed form this covenant as well.
