Amiibo Addiction, Part 4: An In Real Life Angelic Acquisition

Welcome to part 4 of me documenting my Amiibo addiction collection! I’ve already run out of things to say in an intro paragraph so on with it.

Amiibo #15: Luigi (Super Smash Bros. Series)

Released: December 2014
Chronological Smash Bros. Series Release: #15

Luigi away!! Not sure why his pose looks like he’s getting fired from a canon but it looks pretty cool. Mario’s brother often gets overshadowed so it’s nice to see him get an interesting Amiibo in the Smash Bros. line.

I got this one (and the next 3) from a now gone video game shop that was across from work. The employees that worked at that store were awesome people so it’s quite sad their corporate overlords decided to shutter that location.

Amiibo #16: Pikachu (Super Smash Bros. Series)

Released: November 21st, 2014
Chronological Smash Bros. Series Release: #10

Arguably the most famous Pokémon, Pikachu is most certainly overcharged on cuteness! His basic pose is still freaking adorable and the eye painting is spot-on.

Amiibo #17: Mega Man (Super Smash Bros. Series)

Released: February 2015
Chronological Smash Bros. Series Release: #27

I never really got into the Mega Man games but there’s no denying a ton of retro gamers love this blue dude. I may not really care about the character, but blue is my favourite colour and it looks like he’s about to kick ass, so awesome!

Amiibo #18: Sonic (Super Smash Bros. Series)

Released: February 2015
Chronological Smash Bros. Series Release: #26

I never really got into the Sonic games ether, but even non-gamers are aware of this speedy hedgehog. I love how is pose is mid-run which really captures the essence of what Sonic is known for.

Amiibo #19: Pit (Super Smash Bros. Series)

Released: December 2014
Chronological Smash Bros. Series Release: #17

I actually have played one of Pit’s games! Kid Icarus: Uprising destroyed my hands with terribly implemented touch controls on the Nintendo 3DS, but the game’s mythology inspired story was compelling enough for me to complete a playthrough. I never got the chance to see the little angel dude’s retro adventures on NES and Game Boy.

Pit’s Amiibo is stunning and very well detailed. He got his signature bow, wings, and some cool sandals. Pit is also one of the rarest and hardest to get Amiibo. And of course, I missed out on the retail launch.

Thankfully, I bought one at regular retail price from a local dude who decided to get out of Amiibo collecting early on (smart). I remember meeting him outside a random shop on a really cold Canadian winter day. I was chatting with a lady who was trying to get her car started while waiting for the dude to show up… winter is the Pits! 🥶

Luigi’s pose there certainly gave me good laugh whatever is happening to him he’s not afraid, haha. Sonic was something I grew up with so I have a lot of nostalgia for the blue blur I picked up a cheap classic style Sonic figure before Christmas not an Amiibo but a cool little thing, Kid Icarus I dont have much experience with but I picked up the original game on NES last year (bloody difficult), Mega Man I have a couple of games for I prefer the Mega Man X games to the traditional ones, a bit more my style. Overall a nice bunch of figures.
